Dear dental friends who aspire to practice in Hong Kong, the registration channel for the 2026 Hong Kong Dental Licensing Examination (HKDLE) will officially open on February 3rd. While everyone is busy preparing for the written test, an equally crucial “frontline battle” has already begun – the preparation of registration materials.
We are well aware that the official documents released by the Hong Kong Dental Council require rigor and meticulousness, with many details resembling a “maze”, especially regarding the “proof of good reputation” section, which has left many applicants confused. Once the materials are incorrect, do not comply with the certification method, or miss the deadline (February 26th), all the preparation efforts may be in vain.
Today, based on official documents and verified information obtained through direct inquiries, we have compiled this detailed “avoiding pitfalls” guide for you. Please put down your exercises and take a few minutes to ensure that your “ticket” to the exam room is foolproof.

Part 1: Two “iron rules” that must be remembered before registration
Before starting to prepare any documents, please understand these two unshakable rules:
The iron rule of timeliness: One of the core documents, the “Certificate of Good Reputation,” is only valid for three months from the date of issuance. If it exceeds the deadline by one day, it will be considered invalid. Please make sure to calculate the application and submission time.
The iron rule of authentication method: All copies that require “verification by a notary public” must be notarized by a notary public with formal qualifications in Hong Kong or mainland China. Copies verified by lawyers, Justices of the Peace, etc. will not be accepted.
Part 2: Interpretation of the Core Material List Item by Item (Please be seated accordingly)
1、 Basic identity and educational documents (required for all applicants)
Proof of Identity: A copy of the ID card or passport verified by a qualified notary public.
Complete academic records: original transcripts covering the entire academic year, listing all dental courses, or certified copies by a notary public.
Graduation Qualification Certificate: A copy of the dental graduation certificate verified by a notary public.
⚠️ Key tip: It is advisable to obtain the original transcript directly from the graduating institution as this is the safest way. All “notarization” procedures must be confirmed to be handled by a “notary office” and a “notary public”, not a law firm.
2、 Prepare corresponding key certificates based on your practice history
This is the most error prone part, please strictly compare according to your own situation:
Scenario A: Applicants who have never registered to practice anywhere (such as recent graduates)
You need to provide the original document issued by your graduation institution, which proves your good character during dental training.
Scenario B: Applicants who have registered and practiced in mainland China or other places (the vast majority of in-service doctors)
You need to prepare the following two sets of documents:
Practicing Qualification Certificate: The original or notarized copy of the document issued by your current registration management institution (such as the National and Local Health Commission) to prove the validity of your practicing qualification (usually referring to the Physician Practicing Certificate and its registration record).
Certificate of Good Reputation: The application should be submitted by your current registration authority (such as the National and Local Health Commission).
Clear guidelines: Find the health commission that stamps the certificate. For provincial seals, please contact the Provincial Health Commission, and for city seals, please contact the Municipal Health Commission. (Reply from the Hong Kong Dental Council for telephone consultation. You can call for consultation according to your specific situation without guarantee.)
Part 3: Important Additional Reminders
Document verification right: The committee reserves the right to verify the authenticity of documents with any issuing agency. Any exam qualifications and scores obtained based on false or untrue materials will be unconditionally invalidated.
Alternative verification method: If you have any doubts about the file format or notarization process, the most direct way is to bring all the original documents and personally go to the Secretariat of the Hong Kong Dental Council for staff to verify and authenticate the copies on the spot.
Time urgency: Starting today, the process of preparing these materials – especially the need to apply for “certificates” from administrative departments and handle foreign-related notarization – may be longer than expected. Don’t delay the important matter of “registration” by burying your head in preparing for exams.
Part 4: Professional matters require systematic planning
Preparing for an international level professional qualification examination is a systematic project that involves every step from registration to taking the exam. Any negligence in any link may lead to the failure of previous efforts.
In addition to providing systematic training covering the entire process of written exams, practical exercises, and clinical interviews, Zhengxi Education also provides students with cutting-edge and accurate interpretation of application policies and process guidance. We are well aware that a clear path and reliable support are essential components in helping professionals achieve their goals.
If you still have any questions about exam planning or material preparation, please reply to “registration” in the background and contact us for clearer and more professional guidance.
The road to success begins at the slightest detail. A perfect application is the first showcase of your professional image and rigorous attitude.
